both of my rear inner cv boots are torn... and i'm thinking of doing it myself... not sure i want to tackle that big of a project, so i'm researching it first. have any of you replaced one? if so, what kind of time was involved? was it a tough task? if you took it to the dealership, what kind of cost and downtime was involved.

any info would be appreciated...

cheers

It's not hard at all. I have done alot of them when I worked at Yamaha. The Inner is easier than the outter ones. I would use hose clamps instead of the bands when you replace them though. I always do and they hold alot better. If you need any help at all let me know.

thanks for the info Boot.. will the repair manual have a 'how to' section on this? if it does, i'm going to order it.

glad i don't have any rides scheduled for the next couple of weeks.

lol!

EDIT: do i have to take the whole axle, hub , brake assembly off to get to the inner?

Nope the inner is not hard. I almost 100% positive the manual would have it in it. I use to work in Decatur,AL.

Nick, it's not your fault... no worries buddy. cheers

Boot, did you work at the Yamaha Dealer on the beltline?? that's where i've taking my rhino for oil changes and such...

I was just reading on RF.Net that some guy took his rhino to a CV repair shop and the guy did it in no time and it cost him something like 20-30 bucks. I wonder how it's holding up though...

from what i'm reading... i can take the shock off, unbolt the A-arms and then i won't have to mess with the inner boots... this sounds like a good idea to me. :afro:
