Battery Suggestions? Empty
PostSubject: Battery Suggestions?   Battery Suggestions? EmptyWed Feb 09, 2011 3:52 pm

Within the next few weeks I will be installing a stereo that will consist of couple 6.5's and a 200 watt amp, also a cb style 2 way gmrs radio. I know this will may be a little difficult on the stock battery. What are some suggestions?

Dual battery kit? If I am not mistaken all a dual battery setup really needs is a battery isolator and a second battery.
or
Odyssey Battery? If this is the way to go which one is everyone using in the RZR? Are there any other brands similar to Odyssey's?

Thanks!

With what you are adding, i would say a Odyssey is all you need.

If I go the Odyssey route then which one? Does the 925 fit in the stock battery box? Seen different websites list it for 08 & 09 only then some list it for 10 gen 2?

I'm still debating because I have an extra battery that would go good in that dry box, that really isn't dry, and just link it directly to the positive post on the stock one. I have done this many times on vehicles without an isolator and never had an issue. Just had to make sure to run directly from the positive post so the second battery would see charge current from the alternator. I know being linked without an isolator they would share the load of the accs but I don't believe my small amp and two way radio is gonna pull that much. Am I talking any sense, lol!

925L will hook up in stock location. You will only need to modify the hold down bracket. allright

Ok, I finished up the stereo and mobile 2way radio install last week and got to test it all this weekend to see how the stock battery would do. 2 days of riding and no issues, didn't seems to affect anything and ran most of the time with headlights on as well. I never cut the stereo or 2 way off all day, even when stopped. It even sat for over half an hour while eating lunch and fired right up. Stereo sounds great and mobile 2 way radio worked great as well. Matter of fact when I was at the top of the world up behind ride royal blue campground I was talking to another group over on trail 6, someone I know was on windrock T57, he said I came thru on their handhelds. Can you hear me now! Lol.
