| Powersports Business Monday February 14, 2011 BRP will invest more than $15 million in its Wisconsin facility to become the heart of the company’s Evinrude brand, the company said.
The investment, which will occur over the next three years, comes as BRP consolidates all of Evinrude’s product development, marketing and sales functions under one roof, in Sturtevant, Wis.
As part of the decision, all employees from the company’s Waukegan, Ill., facility will be moved to the Wisconsin facility. There will be no job terminations resulting from this move, the company said. Employee relocations will begin in late spring and should be completed by the end of this year.
“This additional investment further demonstrates BRP's commitment to the Evinrude brand,” José Boisjoli, BRP’s president and CEO, said in a press release. “One site allows BRP to bring all Evinrude-related employees under one roof to better serve its network and its customers worldwide.”
BRP committed itself to the Evinrude brand when it acquired the assets of Outboard Marine Corporation in 2001. It has since invested millions of dollars in R&D for the E-TEC technology. In 2005, BRP became the first marine engine manufacturer to receive a Clean Air Technology Excellence Award from the Environmental Protection Agency for its environmentally friendly E-TEC engines. | |

| It's a shame they could not have invested to have all their powersports built in the US. | |
