| Now, more than 800,000 National Guard & Reserve troops have been activated since 9/11, and almost 90,000 are on active duty right now. Note that that number is individual activations -- many of those people are counted multiple times, since they've been activated and deployed multiple times... We use to laugh at them and call them "weekend warriors" and now we can't go to war without them... a more accurate description is "part-time warriors" because they're doing this while trying to hold down a regular job, just like everyone else... http://www.defense.gov/news/d20110322ngr.pdf | |
