Quit Smoking Empty
PostSubject: Quit Smoking   Quit Smoking EmptySun Aug 07, 2011 11:22 pm

It has been one week now with out a cigarette. It has not been that bad. Yeah I would like to go out side a smoke a camel. However, I am fighting the urge pretty good.

But man on man I loved a good smoke. But it is time to quit.

Good for you Big-R, I ran out 2 years and just over a month ago... I guess I say I quit now, but for the first year I refused to say I quit, just I had simply ran out. I put on about 50 pounds and I've lost about 25 of it now but it's worth it.

I switched from camels to camel snus dip. It really helped with the nicotine fits and used them as a crutch for about 6 months. Good luck and I hope you wife can stand you during this, mine barely did.

I'm with ya big-r! I started slowing down last week then made one pack last from Friday till last night. I have been having some congestion and chest pain so I said to hell with it! Dr wants me to go for a stress test just to make sure nothing is wrong.

If you can slow down that far you can quit. I have been using nicotine gum. It has helped out a bunch.

Keep it up. 19 years ago I picked a date and told my wife that I was quitting. I was a 2 pack a day smoker. On that day (May 1, 1992) I threw away my remaining packs of cigarettes and have not looked back although my wife still smokes.

Well, I haven't been using gum or anything, been dipping some to help, at least it ain't in my lungs. I know I'm trading one for the other. Dipped before I started smoking.

You need to try the gum or the camel snus dip. You can keep either one in your lip like dip but it is not has harsh on you. It is the nicotine that the body is craving. The rest is just habit.

I couldn't have done it without the snus. The gum always made me feel sick like I had put a big dip of copenhagen in my mouth. vomit

I quit... 30 years ago... I did it, anyone can. All it takes is will power and a bit of discipline. I don't like being around smoke anymore... I always try to stay upwind of anyone that smokes now.

If you're like I was, within 6 months to a year, you will begin to smell things that you've never smelled as an adult. You will taste foods you've never tasted as an adult. I found things to eat that I didn't think I liked before I stopped smoking. Neat to come into the house and be able to small what was for dinner!

Yeah that first stick of the day makes me nauseous. However, if you drink about four beers you can chew nicotine gum like it's bubble gum.....
