2013 xp 900 When backing up or forward and turning right something in the rear end is clicking/popping. Removed axle and it is good. Any ideas?? Thanks

sounds like a bad axle. try switching the axles and see if pops when you turn the other way. I had a axle that had a small pin hole in the boot. only after taking it apart I found that it was bad.

I may try that, but i removed the boots and cleaned the grease off and it looks good. They are cobra axles. If the cup or cage was cracked/broke I should see that. So......??

Did you drain the oil and check for metal?

Let it pop. I've had an axle poppng for about 3000 miles. I've tried several times to break it... so far, it's better than I am...

with it on the lift and in gear it makes no sound same as above but hold the brakes and apply power it makes the sound removed axle and removed the boots, re-installed axle and when my extra set of eyes get here going to try again and see if I can see the CV slipping?? no havent drained the trans fluid yet trying to eliminate axle 1'st, that will be next if axle proves to be good thanks for the input so far and I will update soon

it's the outer cv joint popping, with boot off and applying power with brakes held you can see it these are cobra axles so a call to in the morning will be made, glad it's not in the gear case!
