Heat shield for rearend.

Is this worth doing, or does the spool just get super hot anyway and nothing much you can do about it? This would be a cheap and easy mod. I already have some aluminum laying around.

The plate over top the spool is the example of what the shield would look like.

try some aluminum foil in your jeans, that might keep your rearend from overheating

Yeah, I don't see a reason myself. The gear-lubes can take much higher-heat than the diff gets. It does get hot, granted, but until the vent-hose starts melting and the fluid starts puking, not a problem. The front-diff gets hot too, just stuff rotating @ high-speed. No biggie in my book. Heck ,I've gotten my shocks so hot you could not touch them.
