Replacing my starter Empty
PostSubject: Replacing my starter   Replacing my starter EmptyMon Aug 01, 2011 1:04 pm

Has anyone replaced the starter on the rzr? I'm thinking that mine is going bad and I'm going to pull it off this week.

Has anyone done this? Besides pulling the bed off anything else I need to pull before I get started? I'll probably work on it tomorrow or wednesday.

I replaced my starter and didn't pull the bed... I pulled the right rear tire. This is tight, but doable.

Are you sure it the the starter and not the bendix? My buddy had a bendix go bad and changed out his starter. Needless to say, that didn't help. My starter main bearing went bad due to lack of lubricant. I was lucky... I got my buddy's used starter. It's worked fine for the last three months.

From all the trouble shooting it definately all points to the starter, bearings too. I'll pull it before I order a new one. I saw superatv has one for $75 and I've always had good service from them so I'll probably order it. Is there anyway to lube them bearing or just wait til they are dead.

Oh ya, thanks dan. I'll probably pull the tire and the bed. I need to drop the skid plate too so I'll give her a good cleaning while i'm at it.

I got my old starter out tonight. It was a piece of cake. It amazes me just how bad some of these pieces are. The bearing in it literally fell out when I took it apart. Ill order a new one tomorrow and rebuild this one for a spare.
