Windrock or Brimstone Empty
PostSubject: Windrock or Brimstone   Windrock or Brimstone EmptyFri Feb 17, 2012 7:36 pm

Ok, i have been to Windrock on ATV's and really enjoy it. I'm looking forward to going there on a Rhino but i keep reading about how great Brimstone is. Whats the lowdown on this place and is it much further than Windrock is when driving from SC? The pictures kind of look like Windrock scenery. The only thing that i didnt care for at Windrock was some of the ROCKY trails and i dont mean just a little rocky. We hit a trail that came out to a small, old wooden church that was nothing but large rock for 1 1/2 hours straight. We got lost on the backside of the mountain, ran out of gas in the middle of hillbilly vilage with no cell phone reception, this is a great story that i will save for a ride one day. Anyway, i'm off subject like always, whats the scoop guys?

Ride them both. You can get to each on the trails.

Brimstone is my favorite place to ride. However, it is one of the toughest places too. I also love Windrock. You can't go wrong with either one. Windrock is a much larger place.

I think to ride from one to the next requires 3 permits. It'd be a good ride though. Brimstone is my favorite but Windrock is OK too.

Another vote for Brimstone - but its not a far drive from windrock to Brimstone by road (you will need to load up). maybe 1 hour away, there are probably shortcuts I am going by Interstate / well known route

Windrock has the hardest trails I have been able to find....NO, not on the southside, and not trail 57 either. Northside trails over near the autobahn and lower moe's are pretty technical trails. Some others over there are twice as hard as 75Y, 44Y, and others.

Yea, me too......twice as hard as 75y would be fatalities every weekend, harder than 75y would be unrideable

PostSubject: Re: Windrock or Brimstone   Windrock or Brimstone EmptyWed Feb 22, 2012 9:54 pm

Thats the problem.....so many people want to do the rides on the unmarked land, and do the ride from Windrock to Brimstone to Royal Blue, that 30 people will show up....and we won't get anywhere. The trails on the far side of Red Oak mountain are some of the best I have ridden, such as over to the Eternal Flame and Turley. Some of the trails haven't been ridden in over a year, so they are rutted terribly bad. And I would have to go ride them before I took a group to them to make sure trees are not blocking the trails, or gas wells that have been added.
