| My new man cave showed up today! I am tired of being out of garage space. My current little shop is only a 16x26. The new one is a 40'x40' 16' tall with three 12' x12' doors. I plan on moving all my tools over to the new building and using the old shop just for parking. That way I can get stuff out of the garage. I might have to park one of the RZRs in the new shop not sure yet. I still should have plenty of space though! It will be nice cause since I bought our little boat I can't fit either trucks in the house garage and my sons gokart has been demoted to parking in the yard lol. This is what the current garage looks like Pic of the new shop going up. | |

| lol I hear you. So far I have a 30x30 barn, A 16x26 garage, a 22x36 garage and now a 40x40 shop! The barn isn't much help since its so far back in the field. It has water but is a little far to try and run power to it. So we just use it for storage and parking the tractors. My other two garages aren't tall enough to put a lift in, chain hoist, ect. Thats the main reasons for wanting a tall metal building.
The shop is up now. Still waiting on the garage doors to come in though. Next I get to run electric and water.. Its kinda of funny I've been asked about a dozen times what the building is for.. When I was picking up the cable for the breaker panel the guy asked what kinda of business was the building for. When I told him its just a shop for my house he just said thats a big shop :)

| Figured I'd post an update.. Still waiting on my doors to come in, but here is a shot of the building and the pad in the front. Picture doesn't do it justice. The large doors and 16' ceiling really opens it up. I went with the 12'x12' openings so I can pull pretty much anything in there I might want. My little toy hauler will fit in their with plenty of room to spare. Soon as I get it wired I'm going to epoxy the floor then get my trolly and chain hoist installed and my two post truck lift!! I had the center supports of the building beefed up so I can run an I beam from one end to the other.. That way if I have something heavy in the back of the truck on on a trailer I can just hook the chains to it and roll it off to the side! I poured the concrete thicker to help support the two post lift. In theory where the lift is going the chain hoist should sit right above the engine compartment. | |

| I'm wondering who you ordered the building from and if you are happy with the price, service, etc.? Was this a stock design or was it a custom job? I am looking at building a new dog boarding kennel and have heard some horror stories about some metal building people. | |

| Nice! I want to build a larger detached shop myself but that's a year of two down the road. So how to you like the pre-fab design? | |

The building came from BigBee steel. Its a fairly small company. We have bought several buildings from them over the years. Infact I had ordered a 32x42 from them a couple of months ago for an addition to an existing BigBee building. Thats pretty much what got me started on doing a shop for the house. I have been talking about it for the last couple years saying how I should have just built a big metal building instead of building my little garage. Got to talking to Johny from Bigbee and ended up ordering one. It was not a package building. They do have those. Infact he had a 30x50 that was a few grand cheaper then my 40x40. I just wanted one about this size and I wanted one with the doors in the front and back of the A frame vs the sides. So its custom as in they had to design it, draw up plans, ect. LoL honeslty though I did not really pick and choose much. They have several styles of metal, trim, cutters, ect.. I just told him its going in my yard at my home so do it right. The only things I dictated was the size, colors, doors placement and I told them to beef up the center beams to handle a Trolly with a chain hoist. The trolly will run on my own I beam but the beam will have to be supported by the center rafter and colums. I'm happy with the building and think the price wasn't bad. I'm sure I probably could have got it cheaper but I would have probably gotten a cheaper building also. This building is built as if it were for commercial use. So has thick metal, heavy small entry door, ect. I did not have BigBee erect the building though. They wanted way to much. I had it put up for 1.50 a foot. Bigbee quoted me almost twice that. And really I could have had it done for 1.25 a foot. But the guys doing it had a few hold ups cause of weather and the insulation showing up late, ect. They were doing a good job so I told him I was good with 1.50
