| hello, My name is Bob and I'm possibly moving to the Maxton NC area due to work. I have a Commander 800R XT, but I don't know what there is for riding in that area. Up here in Washington State, we have all kinds of riding, and I'm afraid there wont be any riding available. Can someone please tell me what I'm getting into! | |

| Looks like you are going to be deep into NC. We have some great ride areas in TN and WV. Those will be your closest places for big atv/utv parks. These places are 20 acres plus. Welcome to the site | |

| Welcome, Bob. Looks like Maxton is going to be 5 or 6 hours away from the best riding in the country, at least in my book. The riding here is probably going to be different from what you are used to. For some idea you may want to search Youtube for Windrock, Coal Creek, Brimstone, Royal Blue, North Cumberland, Pickett, Black Mtn, and Hatfield-McCoy for starters. These areas are in East Tennessee along the I-75 corridor, in southern WV along the I-77 corridor, and southern Kentucky and Virginia. Traditionally this is coal mining country and the local groups working with large landowners (mining/timber companies) have opened up huge areas for us to play. Once at your base (campground/hotel/bed and breakfast/cabin) you can disappear for days or weeks at a time. A normal day for us is also riding for 10-12 hours at a time traversing 50-100 miles of very rugged, steep, lush terrain. | |
