| By the looks of the dunes, it looks like Ft. Walton County or Santa Rosa Island. Either way, looks better than where I am. LOL! | |

| I used to live in Panama City (Callaway). Mexico Beach and Port St. Joe where you are at is where I and the locals used to always go for the day. Not as touristy and crowded. Terrific snorkeling there in the bay behind you, but I can't remember if scallops are in season right now. During the BP oil spill it was a free for all since they thought it was all going to get ruined anyways. Oil never made it there though. I used to be able to walk out onto my backyard, jump in my boat (dock in the back yard, lived on Callaway bayou), run through east bay into the intracoastal waterway and follow that all the way to Saint Joseph bay. Used to do the same thing when I would go to Destin for the day. Traveling by boat on the intracoastal waterway to those places was usually faster or the same as by car due to the traffic. You are in the prettiest area around there. A real hidden gem. The reason it never became a big tourist attraction and overly developed is years ago there was a huge paper mill there. Have you ever smelled a paper mill? Yuck!!! | |

| I saw that Rob. This place is really "The forgotten Coast". I've been a "panhandler" since I was a child. I rode my 1984 Honda ATC200X on the beach in Panama-City in 1984, off Thomas-Drive. Spinnaker's was just a small tiki-hut that I could see from my aunt and uncles house about three-miles away, beachside. man that place has changed. The "Cape" is still pretty old-school, lot of new construction tho. I hope they keep all the high-rises at bay. But it's all about money. I'm sure, not in my lifetime, but later the ugly buildings and congestion will come. | |
