Free Garmin map updates

Garmin now offers FREE map-updates. My 3-1/2 year old Nuvi 255 was bad out of date. It's now updated!!

I couldn't get my Nuvi 500 to do anything.   Will have to try again later.

I have a new 5 inch 1450 that is updated to 2014-10 maps.
I got and old 4 year old 260 that did not come with life time updates.
Are you saying i can update it for free now?.....

My 255 did not come with free-updates, but the site up-dated it??? It read my SN# and off it went. Took about an hour. I got the web-address from paperwork that came with the wife's new NUVI 50 LM. It even gives you options for the voice. I got rid of the "bitch"....

Well , I guess my 260 is to old...  
Hooked it up to Garmin Express , I already had it to update my new one.
it found it right away cause i regged it when i got it in 08. it did give me a free firmware
up date free , but when it got to maps , it said i had to buy it...  
So shit , i guess no free update for me. The 260 is older than the 255.
I have a new 1450 that is 5 inch screen and works great. but it would of been nice to
update the old one and keep in one of the trucks for every day use.
Oh well it was worth a try....  

Are you guy's using these for the trails?

I do some times. The Nuvi 500 is for on or off road.
