| Here is what the gentleman had to say about it;
, my 2014 XP1000 was delivered to my house out here in Yuma. I went out this morning to break it in (manual says it needs 3 hours of break in). So off I went out behind my house in the foothills. It is a mix of sand, dirt, rocks. It has plenty of places that have 1-2' tall whoops. Some small dirt hills (30-50' tall). It also has some washes. It is a lot like Ocotillo Wells.
Heres a little back ground on the vehicles I have driven to put the review in perspective. I currently own a 2011 RZR XP900. It has aftermarket Fox 2.0" Shocks with high/low speed compression adjusters and rebound adjuster. The motor and clutch are stock. On the hard pack, I am running the stock wheels and tires. It has a Benchmark cage and 3/4 doors. Jet Trim Seats and 4 point belts. I have spent a ton of time adjusting the Fox Shocks on this XP900 and feel that they are dialed in for the dunes. I did not change the settings to ride it on the hard pack. I have had many buggies, most recently my Extreme Eco 2 with a 427 LS3. Before that, a Funco Big 5 and numerous other Long Travels. I have owned a 660cc Yamaha Rhino. I have spent time driving Wild Cats too. I raced regional (West Coast) NASCAR for 11 years and have been going to the dunes for 30+ years. With that being said, here are my thoughts and my review (hard pack only and only using up to 3/4 throttle, as I want to break the motor in properly).
When you first see the XP1000, IT IS HUGE!!! Sitting next to my XP900, it is like a Jeep sitting next to a Suzuki Samurai. It's longer, taller, wider and just makes the XP900 look like a kids toy. I really like the styling. It's aggressive, and just looks good right out of the box. Though I would have liked to see the cage be a little lower and a little flatter. As it does have a slight rise from front to rear. The suspension components ALL seems to be much bigger than the XP900. The axles are thicker. The rear trailing arms are LONG!!! They look great. I am not sure if I like the looks of the rear area of the XP1000. It appears to look to high as far as the styling. It has a deep rear cargo box. Approximately 10" deep. I like that, but not the looks of the rear fender area. The interior of the car is twice as long as an XP900. Or so it feels. My knees almost hit in my XP900 on the dash area, and in the XP1000, I have at least 7-10" of clearance. The ergonomics of the XP1000 are great. The seats feel good for a stock seat, the new half doors have a nice slam latch with a push button release. The seats seem to make you sit in a much better position than the XP900. There is a lot of foot room and it feels like there is more should room. The seats are comfortable, provide a little bit of side restraint and feel good on the lower back. (I have a very bad back, the XP900 seats were the first thing to go in my XP900). I will be able to live with these seats for a while. The new blue lit gauge cluster looks good at night and there are blue led lights down by the cup holders and feet area. The blue LED gauge might be a little bright at night, but I only spent about 15 minutes driving it on the street last night, so I will have to get back to you on that one. The headlights seem good, but again, I only drove it on the street last night. I will say, it looks as if there are 3 beam patterns built into the lights (2 position switch). There appears to be flood and spot LED's when the high beams are on. I will drive it more tonight out in the dirt to really check them out.
On to the performance!
The engine: I am currently breaking the engine in, so I have been very light on the throttle and have not floored it yet. I will say this, at 65 mph, I am at about 5/8 throttle and it is JUST BEGGING FOR ME TO OPEN IT UP! It will do 60 mph effortlessly. The transmission feels great. It shifts easily in and out of all gears. My XP900 is hard to shift since day one, I have had the dealer adjust it and they say it is fine. So compared to MY XP900, the XP1000 is a lot smoother in and out of park and all gears. The exhaust note is much deeper than the XP900. Sounds very similar to the Gibson exhaust for the XP900. It also looks very similar to it. It no longer has the sound of the intake like the XP900. Not sure how to describe it, but it sounds good. With the light throttle usage I have done, the HP FEELS GREAT! I can't wait to open it up tonight! I would have today, but at 9:30 am when I had about 1.2 hours on the motor, it was already about 105 degrees outside, so I figured I would cruise it back home and take it easy until tonight.
The Suspensions!!!!
I left the shocks at their stock settings (6 clicks open) on all four tires. I left the air pressure in the tires as recommended by Polaris (16 front, 16 rear). As I cruised out through some whoops (1-1.5' tall, spaced by about 8-10'), I instantly felt like I was in a stock shocked XP900. It felt very stiff and way to light on the rebound. After 5 minutes, I got out and turned the adjusters all the way to soft on the rear and left the front alone. IT MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! It was night and day difference. I could charge the whoops fast and be aggressive. Driving through them at about 50-55mph was no problem. One hand on the steering wheel! It was very predictable and just ate them up. I got out again and dropped the air pressures down to 10 psi and it was very close to being PERFECT! It felt good in the whoops, in turns and side hilling. Fast or slow, it was so predictable and comfortable. The power steering is great (I do not have power steering on my XP900). It made everything effortless. Good ratio too. Not to fast or to slow. It felt just right. This machine is so nimble! Turns on a dime! It still has a little push in the sand, but nothing like the XP900. It stays straight through the whoops and turns when you want it to. It drifts awesome through the turns too. Comparing it to a Wild Cat in the suspension category, I will say that the XP1000 has a good if not better suspension now than the Wild Cat. But that is just my butts opinion.
All in all, I love the XP1000 so far. It is so different than my XP900, that it is hard to compare the two. It feels plusher, but not heavier. The whole experience has me smiling from ear to ear. If it wasn't so hot outside (105 and rising), I would still be out there. I will get some video once the motor is broken in. If you guys have any questions, hit me up. I am very happy with the purchase thus far and I highly recommend it. And just for the record, I don't recommend stuff just because I own one. I only recommend it when I feel as if it is worth the $$ and it performs! What would you guys like to see on video? A side by side comparison of the XP900 vs the XP1000 running the same whoops sections, drag racing? Let me know so I can get what you want to see!

| Here are the real world measurements: XP 1000 73.5" tall 67.5" rear width 66.0" front width 118" long seat height 30"
Wildcat 65" tall 64" rear width 62" front width 118" long seat height 21"
Also based upon the drag race, the 900 vs 1000 winner was the one that got the jump I expected the 1000 to leave the 900 in the dust = yeah just saved me money!

| Is it just me or is anybody else offended that Polaris didn't have a publicity event on the east coast like they did out west. Do they really sale that many more machines out there (question for Dawber). I'm not going to buy one for a couple of months, that will show em! | |

Do the wheels on that trailer look too far forward to you too? Looks like that rig couldn't jump a curb without doing damage.

| I like it and I don't like it.. I like the length, travel and the factory 28" tires.. The front and sides also look good.. Hate the back end and really don't like the rear cage going into the bed. The other thing is it looks super tall but if you notice it has about the same ground clearance as the 900 even though it has taller tires.. The guy in that thread also said his 900 was a little lower then factory cause he backed off the preload. Looking at the seats and the body it is much taller. But the ground clearance is about the same. So I guess they raised the center of gravity a pretty good bit to get that extra room in the cab. It reminds me of a truck that has a body lift to make it look bigger even though the frame and suspension stays low to the ground.. I'm not sure why they would do that other then cab space? If power is about the same and all they did was make it top heavy longer and wider its not really my thing. I do like those shocks and the amount of travel. But I'm pretty happy with how my XP4 rides as is. | |

| The guy said he has really not got on it good. if there both broke in there is no way 88hp will run with 107hp if there gearing is the same. Maybe they geared it for wide open on the dunes. if thats the case it won't be as good for trail as an 800 or 900. I don't think it will anyway. cause its to Damn Big... Take a 30 acer field to turn it around. | |

| Thank you for posting the review / pictures - you saved me a lot of money. Come see me a trails end for your free beer. After reading the reviews, seeing the videos I have no urgent desire to sell my 900 and buy one. If I was in the market for a new buggy then it would be a toss up between the 1000 and the Wildcat X. There are a lot of nice things about it, but I expected it to spank everything out and it doesn'tMark's Vengeance is beautiful, almost too nice for trail riding. I might have to go truck shopping if it goes up for sale because no way the Pathfinder could tow it | |

| Not much difference in ground clearance, but it looks huge next to a 900 XP. It would look really baddass with a good low profile cage. I wonder if they will have to work out some clutching issues the way they did on the Wildcats when first released? It should be much stronger than the 900. | |

| Just in case Mark or anyone else wants to part with some cash and a lot of it. It's made by Space Craft Mfg. in Concordia, MO. I'm sure they take trade ins. It's there 52' w/stacker garage. They make every trailer custom to what the customer wants. | |
