Opinion 800 vs 570 Empty
PostSubject: Opinion 800 vs 570   Opinion 800 vs 570 EmptySun Oct 06, 2013 8:50 am

My Grandson is looking at an 800 and the 570. He is wanting to stay with the 50" width. From what I have been able to see the main difference is the new motor and trans on the 570.

I have not drove a 570 yet. However, most of the guys that have them are happy. I hear it is a very capable machine.

If it were me, I would get the bigger motor. Smiles

The same question was asked on another site this week and everyone that had the 570 thought it was a great machine.

I haven't read anything negative on the 570 yet. I told him the things he needed to be concerned about were shocks, tires, power steering, seats. He can add all that on later as needed.

The best way to look at this is....... "what you need vs. what you want". Sometimes they are the same thing and sometimes we over spend and buy want we want.

For example, I had a 800 S. It was really all I needed but, I wanted a XP 900 so I bought one.

I'd like to hear more about the 570 also, with its new engine design and engine braking...

Why does he want to stay at the 50" width? Is it because the trails close to where he lives are limited to 50"? I really don't think you can go wrong either way between the 570 and the 800. It is my understanding that they make close to the same HP anyway.

If he is only going to ride on gated trails where you HAVE to be 50" then wither machine will be fine. IMO though I would buy an S. Most of us started with a 50" and most of us would never own one again.. I think the 570 and 800 are pretty much neck and neck power wise. People have said they don't pull on steep hills or carry weight as well. My guess is also if you slap a Long travel on a 570 it will be slower then a 800 S.. More weight and more rotating mass would probably effect the one banger more.

Most of the trails he rides are tight. I tried to talk him into an S but he is stuck on the 50" as of now.

My Dad had a 570 for a few months before he traded it in on an S. Overall compared to my S it was peppy and seemed to respond faster in throttle and steering. However it rode like a dump truck. This is the main reason he traded it in. Might be different now since I think you can get better shock packages now.

50" machines just ride rough, They also tip over with a stiff wind.. I started with a 50" LE, changed the springs, then changed the shocks. It was better but still beat you to death.. Stuck a midtravel on it with the same shocks and OMG I didn't know how bad it really was till I did that. IMHO if your not on gated trails get an S. If he doesn't chances are with in a year he will be buying shocks and springs. Sooner or later if he rides with any other machines he will have a mid or long travel. Its much cheaper and easier to just get an S from the start..

If you are dead set on staying 50 inch wide then i would recomend getting the 570 because if your riding trails that tight then you dont need the extra top end speed that you would get with the 800. I ride alot of tight trails and was worried about my 800 rzr s being too wide but for 2 years now i have went everywhere that others go on atvs. Sometimes i have one tire on the bank and the other over the bank but no problems so far. I rode a 570 once in the passenger seat and it sounds like a lot smoother running engine. It has plenty of low end for hill climbing. if i was restricted to 50 inch trails then i would have bought the 570. Anyway you go with a rzr you really cant go wrong. Just a warning the bushings and bearings do wear out very fast. Also the money you save on buying the 570 could be put on alot of accessories. I have seen 570's advertised for under 9,000. Thats a good price on a new side by side, since most 2 seat atv's are priced in the same range.

I would buy an "S" and the used 50" parts from somebody who converted theirs to an "S". The parts are usually sold dirt cheap. Then I would already have everything I needed to change it back for less $ money than it would take to convert it.

buy the 570, it will do everything a 800 will if you want the 50'' size. Its set up to have basicly the same pulling power and torque as a 800 but not the top speed but who needs to run 60+ in the woods?

I love my 50" RZR, However I will never ever by another one of that width ever again period. I think the suspension on it is the most flawed out of all of the RZR models. Having only 9.5" of suspension travel coupled with short A-arms is a huge downfall and results with lots bottoming out and a rough ride. Even with expensive shocks, its still rough. If you can, I would at least get the base model 800 S. Its not really that much more than a 570 in price. Hopefully when Polaris comes out with a new 50" version, it will have a different suspension geometry with longer travel numbers.
