A while back when I towed the bumper pull Toyhauler and hit puddles, it would shoot the crud up and down the front of the trailer. My after market wheels on my truck stick out somewhat too. I was going to buy the $300 to $400 manufactured ones, but I ran into a site that a guy made some. So I did. They worked good on the trip to Trails End. I hit some puddles on the gravel road. I have less than $40 in these. I had the square aluminum stock from windmaster sign posts. They just go on when I tow. All hardware is stainless steel and aluminum.
