| I bit the bullet a few weeks ago and ordered a new trailer from Husky Cargo. These are the folks that advertise heavily on ebay as "enclosedtrailersforless". I knew I was taking a chance as they aren't a name brand like Haulmark or Pace but they use good components and strong designs. Last week I got the call that it was ready for pickup so I made a marathon run to south GA and back, 10 hours total drive time. The trailer I got is a 8.5'x24' with a 2' v-nose. It has 6" extended height and two 5200# straight Dexter axles. I had them frame and brace for a door and roof vent per my specs but to skin over the holes. I also had them install a 16' awning as it was cheaper to do that than to buy one myself. The first two floor crossmembers are spaced at 24" to allow for holding tanks and the remainder are spaced at 16". The walls are all spaced at 16" and the roof bows are at 24", all pretty much standard. I also splurged a little and got aluminum mag rims for some bling as opposed to painted steel wheels. So here is the blank canvas: Yeah, it looked a little funny without a side door but they were wanting $500 for a RV door. I found one on ebay that was dove gray and took a chance that it would match the dove gray color of the trailer. Oh, I got it for $150 too. Well, the color is close but not close enough for me. I guess I'll end up painting the door at some point. But let me tell you, it takes balls to cut a big a$$ hole in the side of a brand new trailer. At least the door is installed now. Banks is enjoying it already. | |

| The plan is to build the interior using a lot of the components I already have. There will be a front full size bed and full bathroom. Behind that will be an L-shaped kitchen and half dinette. Behind them will be a folding couch and another full sized bed that will fold up too. I wanted to be able to have the RZR inside and still be able to use it as an RV in case I needed to boondock camp in a wally world parking lot. The caveat is that I will only be able to fit one RZR inside. That's okay, because I only have one RZR. | |

| Nathan, looking good. I have been talking to the wife about doing one but on a larger scale. My problem is I have to haul at least two SXSs and sometimes two 4-wheelers. Do these folks have a website? | |

| They do. I would have loved to have gotten a big gooseneck, and maybe I will someday, but it just wasn't in the budget right now and concessions had to be made. One of which was sitting in the Toyota dealership showroom all day yesterday. A happy wife is a happy life. The good news is that her new Highlander has a 5000# towing capacity. Should she want to ride with me she can haul her own darned RZR! http://huskycargo.com/

| Nice. I bought same size trailer a few months ago. Not goin all out on the interior, just a couple beds. I installed ac last week and stayed cool all weekend, so that was the big thing for the wife. Picking up an awning to install this week. Looks like ur Gona have a sweet setup. Looking forward to the build. | |

| I'll be using rubber coin on the floor, rubber wainscoating, and indoor/outdoor carpet on the remainder of the walls. The ceiling will be paneling, everything insulated. Sam's has the rubber coin for about $200 for a 9x20 roll. | |

| A//C is installed. I'm also about halfway through insulating the roof. | |

| You'll love it. I prefer my converted enclosed trailer over our new factory made toy hauler. The wife on the other hand, prefers the new one much better.

| What type of insulation are you using for the underside of your roof? I about to do the same thing to mine. | |

| I'm using the foil backed Styrofoam. It's what I used in my last trailer and it reflected the heat pretty well. The new trailer has a one piece roof with two layers of some type of laminate wood stuff underneath. It's supposed to be an effective thermal barrier by itself. I'm supporting it with 6" wide strips of 3/8" plywood that I will hang paneling from. | |

| I ended up using 2" pink foam board. Then ran furring strips to attach the sheeting to. That overhead work will wear a person out. | |

| No kidding! Whenever I do a project that requires a lot of overhead work I gain new respect for the guys that do it for a living. | |

| Pics coming soon but I have FINALLY managed to finish insulating this thing and hang the ceiling panels. Those doggone hybrid screw/nail things they use now are impossible to remove. You basically have to rip off the sheathing by pulling the heads through the plywood. Electrical has also been roughed in. I've got 5 outlets total on one circuit, all LED lighting is on another circuit, and the A/C is on the third circuit. I have to get a little further along to do the 12V stuff but I did run the wires for the exhaust fan in the bathroom. Basically, everything overhead is done except for trim.
Next up is installing the flooring and framing out the interior walls, installing the holding tanks, freshwater tanks, and finish roughing in the light switches. | |

| It was after dark last night when I got the second window installed. Just as I was cutting a big ass hole in the side of the trailer I heard thunder. At least I had time to tape some plastic over the hole before the monsoon came. I had to stop by the house at lunch today so I snapped another pic. Thanks for the kudos Jason! It's a labor of love, if it wasn't then it would never get done. | |
