This is on my bucket list. Are you talkin a week? Lots of questions?

My plan is just like we done in May. Leave midday on a Friday and should make it to moab on Sunday afternoon/evening. Ride a week and then take a week getting back home. May go to Yellowstone or somewhere up that way for a few days then head home from there.

I would like to stay a night or 2 north of moab dry camping and ride trails there then move into town and spend the rest of the week there. I also thought about spending most of the two weeks in moab and spending more time going to arches and canyon lands parks. Will see what the boss says and the group would like.

I would love to go in the fall but after thinking about it Lucas will definitely be in school in fall of 18. We have not decided if we will send him to pre k next year or not.

We are planing on going this time. I would like to see the rally on the rocks if possible. Also do you have the name of the Campground we should stay at? If we can pull it off my plan would be to head out early and take 5 to 6 days to drive out to see some sites along the way.

pushrods r in ,  dry camp north of town. then we would  move into spanish trails again ,  nice camp ground .

21 hr away for us. We are in for the first week head back home on Saturday.

the rally was ok to see the venders and go to some of the raffles. but i have no plans to go on there guided rides. cost way to much. dont matter if i go back to the rally or not.

i liked canyonlands rv. it has the best location and a pool and shade trees but it is tight for bigger rigs. spanish trails would probably be best for the club. but it is further away from the trails. just have to ride a few miles of pavement.

i talked to monica about the trip and she wants to spend the whole time in moab so we will stay in moab a few extra days and see the sights there. tons of stuff to see in that area. so my plan is to spend a week riding then a few days sight seeing.

Can you drive on the black top there or do we need a special permit.

You are supposed to be street legal to ride on the road. We done it and didn't have any trouble. I don't think we would unless you are acting a fool. But you never know

Do you think it was because it was the rally weekend? They may look the other way during the event and crack down.during normal weeks.

We'd prefer to go on an "event" weekend, even if we don't do their guided tours. I like seeing crowds, vendors, raffles, concerts ect.....
I think the idea of "Boondocking" in remote areas part of the time would be pretty awesome as well.
We're game for a long stay to see as many sights as possible, even if that means packing up and moving every couple days.....
The bigger our crowd the more fun we'll have.

Any chance of doing a Paiute trails trip, Mountain riding over 900 miles of trails, only 3 hrs away from Moab

ritchfield Utah is the hub of the Paiute trail , 4000 miles of trails. the south end around flagstaff az. is more red rock and canyons. that's where the Paiute trail ends, starts in mt. ,  id. , ut. ,  and ends in az. I think they said the trail was around 700 miles, trail number is 01

Pushrod, i believe you may be thinking of the Great Western Trail. Its North South at 4000+ miles.
The Paiute Trail basically makes a big loop around Richfield to the surrounding towns.
You can access the GWT from the Paiute off the eastern loop.
I'd sure love to have the time to ride the full GWT. I've rode and camped the Paiute off an atv and would love to do the same on the GWT.

u r rite, iam sorry , I miss spoke my self, we have been riding out there since 1998 off and on . we have also rode what we call the loop around Richfield . what I was saying that theres over 4000 miles of TRAILS out there to ride.  mike

Its all good. Maybe you can help me out with something. On my way in to Richfield ,on 70, I noticed some tunnels on the left in the hill sides. I was traveling east to west. Do you know the name of that area? I believe i have ridden there in the past, but not sure. I'd guess the are about 10-20 miles east of Richfield. Thanks.

we have been through those tunnels , there are several of them on that trail, they are numbered,  cant remember where they are. sorry. that's a great place to ride !!

From what little research I have done on the paiute trail we would have to camp on the trail or stop in the town's and get a room etc.I know camping on the trail would be a no go with most of us with the wives riding along and the added $ of staying in different town's would make the trip more expensive. Plus there is the width restrictions for most of the trail system and we have guys pushing 80inch wide.  

I would love to ride the paiute,Taylor park and others but this ride will be in moab.

We have been to the Paiute for the past 4 yrs. We have always stayed in Marysvalle at Lizzie and Charles Rv Park. This park is geared towards the off road crowd.  Marysvale is about the center of the Paiute Trail system.  From Marysvalle you can enter either the East of West side of the Paiute Trail.
A lot of the trails have width restriction of 50" an or 60", however; most of them will have a bi-pass for the wider machines.
