| So I had my water pump seal and oil pump seal replaced a couple years ago on my 800s and have been on 6 rides. Now I have coolant leaking from the weep hole again. Both times after riding at Pickett. Do these seals let go often. The original lasted three yrs till riding through deep mud and water at Pickett. Now this one has started leaking at almost 2yrs after same thing. Can I replace the water pump seal without pulling the entire engine/trans assembly. Like my dealer had to the first time? | |

| Yea not hard I did my 800s myself. No engine pulling you access from the rear. Seal is about 50 bucks. You need to be careful when you put the new one in so you don't bust or twist the o ring looking seal that goes around the metal. Did you put a vent tube into the weep hole? If not you need one to keep grit out of the seal. Use zerk fitting and a foot of tubing. I ground the threads off the fitting and glued it in the weep hole and ran the tubing up and looped it. Water doesn't get in. | |

| Thank you goose. No I haven't was going to put a tube extension on the last time but was under warranty and dealer said it would void it. Now wishing I would have anyways. Have new seal ordered along with a aluminum impeller. Finally found a YouTube video and doesn't look to bad. Just glad I found it before I cooked the motor like last time. | |

| It should only take an hour or so to do the swap. I had to do mine on my ol trusty 800 last summer. | |

| Well. I didn't have a problem getting everything a part. But I put a little to much muscle on the nut holding the impeller on and. Ya! Sheared the treaded part of shaft right off😤😥. So now it goes to the dealer in Sept and maybe done by Oct. Not happy with myself. So much for trying to save a few bucks. | |

| happens. The older you get the more you have to do things 2 or 3 times to get it right. | |
