| I may be interested in 09. I was there in August of 06 and rented a Jeep and had a blast. I also have an 18 ft trailer and a crew cab Dodge diesel. Could definitely haul at least 2 sxs's.

| Hey guys we need to get some talk goin on this for next year. Lets see who is definately going, and who has to work on their Significant other for approval. No seriously, lets try to get a head count now as who is intending to be there. I know it's along way off, and things change but alot of people have to make Vacation choices early in 09. And, it would help to start puttin some money in the piggybank. We also need to discuss how long we want to go for. It's 2 days out and 2 days back. Maybe we can leave early and stop in Buena Vista CO. for a couple days riding on the way. The UTV Rally is normally Thursday-Sunday, so we could ride in Buens Vista say Monday and Tuesday. Just for some info, I have gone out there the last 2 years. And with 2 guys trailering 2 machines and splitting gas and Hotels, it is going to cost about $1000.00 for each guy. For 10 days, thats $1000.00 in gasoline and $1000.00 in hotel bills. If you decide to camp, you would save on the hotel bill and cut your cost to between $500.00 to $700.00. There is lots of free primitive Campsites in the area as well as pay camping. If were going all thw way there I would definately suggest making the most of it and going for 10 days. The extra 2 in Buena Vista are definately worth stopping and enjoying, since your going thru that way anyhow. So give me your feedback, and let's start planning | |

| Some Buena Vista Pics guys Overlooking the Town of Buena Vista Top of Mary Murphy mine. 11,700' Colorado's dangerous wildlife. St. Elmo, CO. American Flag Mountain. 12,800' 4 mile area on east side of town. There are well over 100 miles of high speed trails in this area. Most are about 10' wide, all sand base, and the corners are BANKED This area is by far the most fun I ever had on an ATV. | |

| http://www.utvrally.com/Ok folks this has been discussed before. I want to know who is planning to go.........no maybes, just who has full intention at this time to go in May or June 09. If we get a good group to go, then I will be there with the SideXSide Riders. If not I will be planning a trip with some other people to Colorado next year. I would just like to get a feel right now to see how many definates we have, that way we can proceed to discuss this as the year goes on. If no interest we will drop it.

| wvyankee,
I would love to go to Moab. How long of a drive is it out to Moab? If we have a few people maybe I can pull a fifth wheel out there and we can split so fuel.

That is exactly what we all need to do to keep the trip affordable. It's about 1700 miles from my house in WV. When we find out who is committed, then we will work out sharing rides and lodging.

| We normally spend the night in Salina, KS. It is about half way. Your looking at about 26 hours from Big-R's house. About 30 hours from mine in WV. Wheel's, you would be quicker to go across 40 thru Memphis, and Oklahoma. and up thru Albuquerque to Moab. Big-R would be quicker straight out thru Kansas and Colorado. If you want to carpool, I guess you could meet somewhere. Nashville would be the best place if you had a place to leave a vehicle. This is good conversation, because it will be important to carpool in order to keep the cost down. 2 Rhino's on a trailer. If your taking your wives, couples need to group. Singles need to group together. 2 Singles can share Hotel rooms. You all get what I'm sayin. I will be going single because my wife and kids will still be in school if they have it in May again. Who knows though, the first year they had it in June. Don't know why they moved it to May? Anyway, yea we need to find out who is going and then see how we can pair up to split expenses. | |

| Just to bring this topic back to the top.
I believe I voted Yes in the poll. I will be trying to attend this ride in 2009 as have stated before. I will be driving a Full Size 1500 ext cab truck with no smaller than a 16ft trailer.
If we need it I possibly can borrow a 30ft Gooseneck; if I am still at my current job in lawn care. That would be good for 3-6 Rhinos probably. Just don't know how well a 1500 would pull it and I don't really want to ask to borrow the company F-350.
So count me in for Transporting at least one other Rhino besides my own. Although I can easily have 3-4 passengers extra in my truck if we need the space. I may have a crew cab 3500 Duramax by then, who knows.
This will be an awesome trip. May, will kind of be a busy time in lawn care, but I will seriously hope I can make it. |

I've gone the last 2 years out to Vail and Buena Vista Colorado riding. Colorado is awesome and I like it as much as moab. I would be willing to go either place, or as I recommended before, we could ride both places if we go. You have to pass right by Colorado to get to Moab Utah. The main problem we will face is coordinating the transportation to keep it affordable for all. We really need 4 people in 1 vehicle pulling 2 SidexSides. Last year 3 of us took Atv's out there. We towed all 3 on a trailer and took 1 vehicle. We stayed in a Sleep in out at Moab for 4 nights, and stayed at a Best Western in Buena Vista Colorado for 4 nights. We took an air mattress and all 3 shared the hotel room. It cost us $2,000.00 for the whole trip. $1000.00 in gas, and $1000.00 in Hotels. It was about $670.00 each when split between us. I will tell you it is the best $670.00 I ever spent as far as the trip goes. The country and the Riding is absolutely spectacular, and worth every penny. The main reason for the Moab trip( which is farther) would be the UTV Rally. I think the Southern SXS Riders would have a blast out there with other UTV groups from across the country. It will cost some more in gas expense, as Moab is about 300 miles further away than Colorado. I am open to all suggestions. I just think that a Road trip like this will be a very worthwhile experience with the SouthernSxSRiders group. ...............Let's Ride

| I would maybe be interested in going to Colorado. I should be back and settled in good by then. I would have to inquire with my boss to see if I could take leave outside of the normal block leave period. How long would you figure we would be gone total? I could ask to get granted a four day weekend and take my leave in conjunction with that maybe. I would have to "sell it" cause I know they really like us to take leave during the "block leave" period when we get back. I will be the primary staff officer in my section by then and it will be a little harder to get away, but if I work hard on redployment and getting our stuff home all accounted for, he may have enough good heart to help me out. Colorado is actually on my list of places to see before I kick, so I am all about it if I can swing it. I am actually considering trying to get stationed at FT Carson since they are beefing that post up by 13,000 troops the next year-two years. | |
