You should visit the West some time if you want to see snow... For example, the ski areas in Utah routinely accumulate 500" of base. Once while I lived there (1986-1993), they reached 700" and still had 500" on May 1st... I lived at the base of the Wasatch range, underneath Francis Peak, just off the left side of this pic. Those radar towers in the center was the view out my living room picture window. I would love to have had a UTV then (I "made do" with a VW Baja Bug) because Farmington Canyon (right side in the pic above) is a playground for off-road vehicles... In 45 minutes from my driveway, I could be at the towers watching the sunset (we often had picnic dinner up there) or have a tent pitched in one of the campsites at the head of the canyon. (This is between Salt Lake City and Ogden, to the north.) There's trails down the mountain tops in both directions -- with elevations of 9000 - 10000 feet. And the water from the snowmelt makes for a totally different countryside than the high desert down below. The views from up there are incredible. http://static.panoramio.com/photos/original/3044414.jpgCheck this one above, plus this guy's other pics of the area: www.panoramio.com/photo/24555803
