| The folks in Minnesota are attempting to break Evarts, Kentuckys record again this year. Evarts holds the World record with 1138 machines. Minnesota had 1083 last year. Stay tuned for the results. The SouthernSxSRiders need to get one for the record SidexSide Event. | |

| @ $13 a pop, they stand to bring in some pretty sweet coin, regardless. | |

| 1632 machines were counted. They still need to have Guiness verify the count though. We were in the seventh row and this is the shot from there, they were still coming in after that pic also. [img] [/img] | |

| Where's Silver Bay? I lived in Mankato, MN for 4 years. I don't remember hearing of it... I loved going to the Boundary Waters and Voyageurs Nat'l Park, though... Combine those two Quetico National Park on the Canadian side, and thats about 1,300.000 acres of undeveloped land. That's bigger than a breadbox... | |

A bit north of Duluth, eh? Don't know why I don't remember it, since we did the drive up to Grand Marais several times -- all the way into Thunder Bay at least twice... Danged CRS!

| ridepate You're kidding right? Most of the parade was done at walking speeds. It was all driven on blacktop except for the maybe 1/2 mile in and out of the staging area. Law enforcement had all streets and intersections blocked.
I wear a helmet when trail riding and have different ones depending on what machine I'm using but I don't wear one when I'm putzing around my yard either and I've driven faster than what that parade moved at.
Don't get me wrong I'm all for safety but there is point where one has to take responsibility for themselves.
Look at what the safety nuts are doing to the Rhino

| Up here in the Socialist Northeast, about any event where an ATV is on a public street, the rider has to wear a DOT-approved helmet -- even inside a Rhino in order to get the waiver/permission to ride on public streets.
We just had to do that to participate in a parade in Massachusetts in April, and will be required to in August in New Hampshire for a ride up Mount Washington. Note that New Hampshire doesn't even require motorcyle riders over 18 to wear a helmet, I don't think, but we'll have to wear one on and inside our ATVs/UTVs.
ATVers up here really don't bitch about the requirement, because they want to show the public that they're safe, responsible riders, and help fight the "hell-raising, environment-destroying" image that the tree-huggers try to portray them as...
It's called "Public Relations" as much as it is safety...

| See now around here the treehuggers would just as soon we all busted our skulls (less of us) Once again I do understand the imprortance of helmets but I've seen golf carts going faster than we were. Heck my lawnmower goes faster than we were moving. Question is where do we draw the line? Heck look around this forum alone with pics and vids with no helmets on the trails and in extreme conditions. It boils down to personal preference as to wearing a helmet. I respect everyones choice. | |

| I wholly agree it's a choice, as it should be. But I do agree with Kent, at an event like this, no matter if your doing 1/2 mph, public-perception goes a long way. I did see some helments tho. | |

| And Dawber, not sure on SXS....in Kentucky I know an ATV is defined as an actual ATV, a Side X Side, and even an off-road Jeep/Truck, but Im not sure about the definition as it applies to the record. | |
