I have never gone the way you did. Always went to the North side thru Bickmore and ended up in Muddlety north of Summersville. Never rode to the lake.

Here are three pic of some kayakers. In the first two you have to look hard for them. We watched them come down
the rapids and one women turned over and had to get out of hers, but she was ok. This was our first time to the lake.
If you ride from Swiss it is about 35 miles on old county road 22(i think). You have to watch though there are all kinds
of gates being put up that kind of limits you in spots, but it is a nice ride where you can fly in some areas.

The name of the road that you couldn't remember the name of is called Springdale Rd.

We live on that road.

Thanks guys I think I can get to the battlefield, but so far know one seems to know how to get to the lake. My dad and me are going to drive his truck over there Friday and explore a little to see what we can do. We would like to get to the lake without making anyone mad or going on someones property. Here is how we got from sanderson to vaughan. Went past the pay lake (or fishing pond) on the ridge to spangler then went straight through some trails that got us above the saw mill in bentree. Then went down the main road 500 - 700 ft and turned left on to a street that started with a S (can't remember) and followed the trails and old strip mines and dropped off the ridge at Vaughan right below the bridge. From there went down the road maybe a quarter mile and truned left onto the old county road (Twenty Mile Creek). Just went up there some and then turned around so we could get back before dark. This ride was about 30 miles one way or 60 miles round trip. If we can get to the lake I will give you all the direction or coordinates.

I don't know about Jan., but some of us were talking about the weekend of the 24th or 31st of this month (going to the Gauley River). Just had to wait for the park services to open stuff back up after the white water rafting season.
