Very well said ,we like the lower gear that what i wanted most of all was the bottom end, but hey if you can get that on the bottom an a little on the top hey im for it.

Only real complaint I have with my 660. Not low enough gearing. If Yamaha would have put 450 gearing in the 660, with a modified sheave for top end it would have been awesome.

Unless I'm mistaken (haven't specced out a cam in a long time), I think you have it backwards: High lift with short duration is for fast-revving, high RPM -- think dragster, as an analogy High lift with longer duration is for slower revving, broader power band, and typically a little lower RPM -- think oval-track racer Note also that short-duration cams, with lift being the same, will put more stress on the valvetrain. They often require stronger springs to keep up with the faster opening and closing of the valves, to prevent valve bind or float, and this in turn puts more stress on valve stems and tends to pound out valve seats... All this is at the theoretical level -- neither of these may be "radical enough" to be either significantly different, nor to put any undue stress on anythint...

You can buy the components separately through other companies at cheaper prices. if I am not mistaken the only thing custom to them in the kit is their exhaust.

| Looked on WEB CAMS web site do you recommend the aluminum retainers or the titanium? Do you know if your local YAMAHA dealership will install the cam? We have a very good veteran mechanic. Thanks Rhino nut | |

| I was told the aluminum retianers were just as good as titanium but would make more noise in the valve train, but when i ordered my cam web told me they had dropped the aluminum due to problems so I have the titanium. a good mechinac can do the install, here where i live the yamaha dealer has a mechanic i trust so he installed mine down load the install instructions on the cam and take it to your mechinic, see what he or she thinks. | |
