| "Conservationists in New Mexico want to keep the area unmolested in perpetuity, and, on Sunday, several interested parties were f lown over the roughly 330,000-acre section of this state that has been proposed for protection under U.S. Sen. Jeff Bingaman's El Rio Grande Del Norte National Conservation Area Establishment Act, introduced into legislation in April and co-sponsored by Sen. Tom Udall, D-N.M." That's a fact and unfortunately the anti-access folks are moving into your neck of the woods with the recent Tellico decision, I don't see them stopping there. The BlueRibbon is busy fighting these closures but not as busy processing new memberships which help to support this fight. I would encourage ALL OHV folks to get involved now!!! The NFS estimated in 2005 that there were 48 - 51 million of us using OHVs in OUR National Forests, with more involvement we could easily out number the opposition! If you are by yourself, slip and twist an ankle or whatever, it's a life threatening situation depending on where you're at. These "special" interest groups are much smaller than our OHV army but way more active and involved, I guess we deserve what we're handed. | |

Yes they do. Trout Unlimited folks like to walk miles into the Native streams and keep them pristine. No they don't at Tellico. They park right on the side of the paved road and walk about 30 feet.

They just have more friends in high places right now. The Environmentalists (which alot of Trout Unlimited folks are not) are carrying a big stick in Washington DC right now. And to be honest, I have never seen popular opinion discounted for ideoligy like it is today. It's going to be a rough road for us until we get them out of power. All we can try to do is minimize the damage as much as possible, because there is going to be damage. Making your voice heard today and contributing to the cause has never been more critical.
