| what's everyone using up in the mountains when you ride to communicate ? I was thinking of doing something like the rugged system but I don't ride with too many people. Usually just with my family ,in the same vehicle.I thought of doing an intercom (definitely ) and maybe car to car. will these systems from rugged work well in the mt's? will they pick up other vehicles in the mountains in case of an emergency. | |

| rottenrhino, Through Rugged Radio's you will need to specify UHF or VHF. They will try to sell you their choice which is VHF. The group I ride with uses UHF. You will also need to know the frequency's for them to program. | |

| I use the family channel radio's from Bellsouth. My set picked up good at Wind Rock last time we rode with 17 of us. I saw a 4 mile and I think an 8 mile set at Home Depot tonight for around $39.00 to $59.00 for Motorola. These are hand held programables. Not sure about UHF or VHF. | |
