Fuel Pump Question Empty
PostSubject: Fuel Pump Question   Fuel Pump Question EmptySun Apr 11, 2010 2:45 pm

I have the 2006 660 Rhino. The fuel pump went out a few months back and I replaced it with a new stock one. Now that one seems to have quit working too. can anyone give me the name of a good after market fuel pump I dont want to spend money on another stock one and have it go out again.

Thanks for any suggestions

Get the fuel line set also. Check for SILICONE debris in your tank. Could be plugging your fuel line.

Agree with Yank. The stock Yamaha pump is a very reliable piece. Very uncommon for it to go bad, especially twice. I'd do some digg'in. I would remove the tank and all lines, blow-out and try again. Check the pluse-line to the pump for clarity too......

Ok I tested the pump like the service manual suggested and it looks like it is bad. I checked all the lines and found no cracks or clogges. But I kicked myself for what I did find. In the fuel system you have a roll over valve. When I rebuilt my rhino I installed it up side down causing the vent to stay closed, also I had installed a after market fuel cap ( with out a vent ). So I think that it completely closed off the system causing the 2 pumps to fail. I have a new pump from weller raceing ( Thanks Yank ) on the way should be here Friday and installed the stock fuel cap so we will see.

Roll over valve was definately a problem. Early Rhino's ( I think through 06 ) had the diaphragm in the pump made out of the wrong material. The gas made it weaken over time. Most of the time people would see a drop in wide open performance before a complete failure and replace them. I would say the rollover valve was definately your problem.
