| Well im fixing the bearings that had catastrophic failure when i let my brother take it to coal creek somehow and thought the main bolt that held the axle to the spindle was a 30 mm socket but it aint! So anybody know exactly what size it is so i can finish this and go ride tomorrow? Thanks. | |

| You need to pry the indention out with something. Anything that will fit. I have a very small chisel that I use. - MuddyBuddy wrote:

| You better order you a new axle nut, you can only bend that flange back and forth a few times before it goes SNAP. I had to put a new one on with only a spindle change. | |

| I can tell you that craftsman 1/2 ratchet wont break it before to break the ratchet. 18 inch pipe wrench and a cheater bar (a chain link fence post is what I use) has worked better for me. If you are working on both side you can swap axle nuts....they should end up in a different spot so you dont punch the nut in the same spot, to the axle. Of course it doesnt hurt to have an extra....like Smith said, the indention area of the nut will eventually break loose from the nut after you punch it a couple of times. | |

| well everything seems ok outside of the spindle. I was hoping to get away without replacing it but i dont wanna rig anything. The Bearings were nowhere to be found in there except for the inner ring of one of them. Ordered a new spindle tonight with bearings already in it should be here tues. | |

| that looks bad. that new spindle will also have 1 balljoint in it. so all you will need to do is put 1 balljoint in. | |
