| No #'s on weight but the info from the farmer said it was not an adult yet. This is a Canadian bull moose. I've been to Alaska and their bull moose are beefier. Makes this one look like a skinny little kid. I'd have to jump just to punch him in the mouth. All I know is I'll give him the right of way! | |

| Yep, that's a lanky teenager. But, there's still likely at least 1100-1200 lbs up there on those stilts...
Mature Alaskan bulls will often go 1500-1600 libs.
Moose is good eating -- a very, very red meat that's as grainy as bear meat, if you've ever eaten that. IMO, it's not as "gamey" as most venison, and does real well in pot roasts and stews. But, like most wild game, the preparation makes a world of difference... Still, though, elk is my favorite wild meat...

| FWIW, out of curiousity, I posted these pics (linked) on a NE ATV site that I frequent, because there's lots of posters there from Maine, NH, VT, upstate NY etc -- places where moose are common. (They've been sighted within 10-15 mi of my house, but I've never seen/enountered one.) I posted: - Quote :
- What do you think? Narrow road, small pines and large moose -- or Photochopped into a giant?
Got similiar opinions to here -- some thinking it could be real, and some saying it was a good chop job, but then a guy from NH posted: - Quote :
- Sorry guys. Not photoshopped. The picture was taken in Ontario Canada on a fire rd. in the late afternoon. Estimated weight was around 1500lbs! I can't remember the age estimate, but it wasn't all that old.
(saw it on the late night news in NY a few weeks ago)

Yeah, I am with my boys here. That's not a Moose, it is a damn dinosaur It may be a real pic. They stand 7 feet at the shoulder. Which would be about 10 feet to the top of the antlers. They are huge.

Don't know if you've ever driven in moose country, but if you see a moose crossing sign on the highway -- slow down and pay close attention. There is simply NO COMPARISON to hitting a deer, or even a cow. Hitting a moose often totals the vehicle, and often kills or seriously injures the driver or any passenger. What happens is that the car will often cut the legs out from under that big tall thing, and 1000-1500 lbs of wounded animal comes crashing through the windshield...
