If you by me one I will take it. Mine is paid for. If you add up the diff with the price of fuel and the the higher oil change and high price for parts its not that much of a diff. Plus the price you pay for the motor when you buy.

I would love to have one and will in a year or 2 but got to save some cash

Diesel is $3.71 here.....How much in WV? Cost me $65.00 to fill up yesterday.

You can find the older 01-04.5 LB7 Duramax's for pretty cheap now... Just depends on what you want...

Only thing I have had to replace in a year of owning it is a fuel filter, and the 2 front wheel bearings.

The 01 - 05 diesels get better milage than the newer ones but they are hard to find that are not beat to shit and high miles. I will have a dmax in a year or 2 but not any time soon.

May end up putting one in the truck I have now

True true...Mine is a 07 "Classic" with the LBZ...it dosen't have a DPF or a lot of the emissions stuff the new ones have. I have a 5" straight pipe (no muffler/cat. converter) with the EGR deleted.

Yeah, I am finding it hard to believe that he is getting 18mpg pulling that big hauler.

Ditto

Maybe avarage mpg after pulling camper 50 miles and then driving 200 unloaded.

Stock to stock the 8.1 will pull right with a diesel and outrun them all day. But if you got the cash the diesels can make huge power. I wanted a diesel when I bought the 8.1 but the diesel trucks run 5000 higher that the bigblock and have 2x the miles and are beat to hell. So I found a good deal on the BB with low miles and in good shap

If I may ask, what made you choose the Puma over any other?

it was in the size that i was looking for and we liked the floorplan. it has the room to haul a XP or a rzr4. i went and looked at some used toyhaulers but after monica seen this one she loved it.

I think diesels pull a load better but I don't think that 8.1 is going to have any problems pulling either....... Wink

With the price of diesel and the EPA particulate filter and now you have to use an extra urea fluid at an additional cost to neutralize the nox coming from a diesel. I think they are going to become a maintenance head ache with age. I am on my third diesel and at this time with what power they are getting out of gas engines today it would make it hard for me to buy a new diesel.

Not really...the 01-07.5 LB7-LBZ's didn't have a DPF. In fact, the early LB7s didn't even have a cataylic(spelling) converter.

My friend owns a diesel shop here in Knoxville, and got my 5" straight pipe for $350.
You can "block" the EGR with a plate that is around $10.00.....But if you totally delete the system, it adds like 25hp....So I deleted it. And deleting it is around $150.00
