| How do you know when you burn up a belt? And when do you need a new one? | |

| Unfortunately you dont know until it breaks. If you get into a lot of mud or water and get it into the drive belt where you drive it while it's slipping, or get bogged down alot where your really dogging the motor you are then putting abuse on the belt and it wont last as long. Bottom line is how much abuse it gets. If you put it in alot of situations where you have a load on the motor but your drive wheels are not moving much you are putting abuse on the belt. Yamaha does not give a mileage to replace the belt, just check it? My personal opinion is if you do basic riding without too much abuse, I would not let it go over 3000 miles or 3 years without replacing it. If you do alot of bogging or very steep hill climbing, I would replace it at 1500 miles. Suzuki on the Kingquad recommends replacement at 1200 miles. My buddy has one that he runs pretty hard but never does mud or anything like that and has 2200 miles on his original. He does carry a spare on the trail with him. | |
