| Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, Got a question. When I get my Rhino in a lot of mud and water, after some time, I sart hear the belt squealing. I understand that can happen, if the belt isn't sealed good enough. I ride with two 07 Yamaha 4 Wheelers, and they do not have that issue. Is there something wrong with my machine, can I fix it? By the way, I mean a lot of mud and water. Thanks Charley | |

| have you gotten water inside the belt housing? it needs to be drain out if any water gets inside there, there is a drain plug on the bottom. if you keep getting water inside it multiple times the belt will get glazed over and slip. thats the problem i have right now. ive got snorkles now so it stays dry but still need a new belt | |

Is it not supposed to be sealed so that water does not get in there? I guess I'm just lost.

| yes it is sealed around the housing, but there is an intake for pulling cooler air in and an exhaust for the hot air. pull your seats and the engine cover off. the tube from the front and running horizontal with the motor on the drivers side is the intake. the tube from the rear and running behind the drivers seat is the exhaust. water can get into either one of them | |

i got the same problem and have drained it what do i do about a the belt being glazed its been two days and still not running right If you got it really wet and muddy, you need to clean the sheave. Sometimes, just a draining won't do the trick. You need to pull the cover, take the primary off, clean and re-grease.

| I agree if you got mud in the sheave you may want to tear it apart and check it out fairly simple task if you have the right tools.
Does yours vibrate any? Last year I got mud in mine and it caused it to have a vibration and I lost top speed.

Charley Best fix is not to put it in deep mud or water Belt change and cleaning the sheave is not too tough. I would go thru it like Yank said if you think you got grit in there before you do any damage to the sheave face.

| The belt can be cleaned with Westleys Bleche White.......does a good job. You will be able to tell if the belt is glazed or scorched after you get it clean. | |

| Charley, first time doing it will take you about two hours. After you have done it once and you know the steps, you can do it in much less time. | |

What kind of grease and how much will i need also do i pack it or is there a fitting or something It doesn't take much grease just about a finger full for each roller weight after you get them and the sheave cleaned. I use the Yamaha grease it ain't cheap but one can will last forever when just maintaining your rhino. If you ain't done it yet I highly recommend a machined sheave and 12 gram rollers while you are in there, if you have the extra cash. It makes a good difference in the low end and acceleration plus mine gained 4mph top speed(from 37-41).
