Wow, I have a few questions. First, where was the smoke coming from? | |

| Hey this would be me..lol I am not sure where the smoke came from because when I noticed it was not going up a small little hill I smelled the smoke then looked back and noticed it, it wasnt going up the hill, so I backed down stopped and try to see where it was coming from but couldnt tell. I put it in low gear and made it back to the garage. I have a little testing ground in my lot I made to test things before riding. Well glad I do.. But anyways, I cant tell if it was the belt or something else. Was white smoke, I pulled the clutch belt cover, the belt looks ok, I left cover off and tried just riding slow, it is real jerkie, either like belt slipping which it seemed to be, or either transmission or something, I ordered a EPI severe duty belt last night, I believe its the belt, but new to the polaris and belts, had a honda rincon for years and never had to worry about belts. there was no water or dirt in the cluth housing. I figured I would put on the belt and see if it solves the problems, if it doesnt what do you all think it could be? Also is there anything I need to do to the new belt before putting it back on? I thought about also adding a drain hole in the housing for water to escape, seen some mods for it already I may try. | |

| I couldnt tell if it smelled like rubber or not to be honest.. I know what burning rubber does smell like though, but was hard to tell because I been congested as hell. Was strong enough to smell the smoke but couldnt decipher if it was belt or something else, didnt want to try to get it to do it again incase it was something besides the belt. The belt has about 400 miles on it. | |

| Was you in high range? With the jerking it sounds like you smoked the belt. Check all your fluids to be on safe side. | |

| Ok got epi severe duty belt and got it on, and it was definetly belt, used green scotch pad on sheaves and rubbing alcohol and cleaned belt and blew out clutches, thinking about adding a drain hole to the cover. What would be best to use to be able to drain it if it gets water and seal back up? | |

| I used a $0.20 tire valve stem with the core removed. The cap closes the valve stem. I haven't gotten my belt wet since I installed it, so I can't say it works. | |
