| RANGER RZR First Side-by-Side to Finish Baja 500 Side-by-Side wins UTV class Mark Lindsay Minneapolis, July 1, 2008 – The RANGER RZR continues to be a force in the racing world, this time by not only winning the UTV class at the Baja 500 but by being the first side-by-side to ever finish the race. After being the last vehicle to start, Mark Lindsay’s team, consisting of Lindsay, driver Phil Holdsworth and co-driver Michael King, raced the sole RANGER RZR entry to the finish line in 19:49:30. Thirty-three miles into the race, the challenge of a loose, rocky incline brought the vehicles in front of Lindsay to a stand-still. When it was finally his turn, he blew through the obstacle with ease. The RANGER RZR did well through the sand washes, silt beds, whoops and everything the race threw its way. “Being the first side-by-side to finish and win the Baja 500 UTV Class is a true testament to the quality and ability of the RANGER RZR,” said Craig Scanlon, product line sales manager for the Polaris Side x Side Division. “We congratulate Mark Lindsay and his team for continuing to show the RANGER RZR can dominate even in the most extreme conditions.” When asked why he chose a RANGER RZR for the race, Lindsay responded, “For the Baja? This isn't farm work, you need a real machine out here.” Lindsay’s team was sponsored by Afraidium Racing, FST, BS Sand, Iron City Polaris, Bronco Clutch, F2 Racing, HMF Exhaust, The Lindsay Group RE/MAX, MAXXIS tires, TireBalls, OMF Wheels and King shocks. | |

| But like anything else. thay probebly got $30.000 or more in it. to make that race. kinda hard to compair to a regular machine.... While we are talking about RZR's , i thought i would share something i seen first hand. i was at my dealer the other day picking up new wheel studs i ordered. my dealer sales yamaha kawi and po po. thay got a new RZR-s and a regular red one. a guy drove both out back for a while. and came back. and i got to talk to him. he said the S is suppose to be high output motor. and he said he could not tell any difference in performance. he weighed it out. and admited the S had better suspention but that was it. and he wanted to ride in the woods. after doing the math there was $4000 difference in price. he said he could not see it. So he was going to buy the one like Bobby-D has. I told him about the air filter problem. he said he already heard about it. and was the first thing he was going to do. and add wheels and a 2 inch lift. and he thought it was a better deal for the money. He said if he just raced. it might be fine. but for woods rideing it was not worth it. Just thought i would share that with you. Chris.... :D | |

| Well , it does have sorta a long travel and better shocks. but the guy i was talking to did not justify the cost to ride in the woods. i do agree any long travel machine would not be good for woods rideing. just to play in a sand pile..... I am Anti Sand. I use to race motoX in sand in florida and it suxed. people talk about mud. sand is way worse on bearings and motors than mud.... | |

| back to the topic.... to finish the baja 500 is a great accomplishment - and I think the utv class will continue to grow every year out there....the baja 1000 may be a lil stretch - but we'll see....
Chris - of course that machine is not stock - its a 500 enduro race through the desert.... $30k - I dont know if it was that much - but maybe.... either way - as racer you should know - if you are going to race - you are going to pay. pretty simple.
as for the rzr-s - yes I think it is a marketing scheme that is genius by Po.... People are complaining about stability, travel, and ride - not so much about power....so Po came out with an S that has addressed the issues of complaint - and probably told a lil fib about the high output - but had to say something to justify the $4k difference....
either way - its a strong machine - they ALL have their weaknesses.... unless rhino does soemthing drastic to their steering and drive parts, I will be considering a Po when I get back into the sxs market.

| :hijacked: they may have put a different piston or some other little part to say its a high output just nothing that makes a huge difference but when people ask they can say something like "It has a high compression piston" or somethin along those lines who knows | |

| I was at a dealer yesterday and they had a fresh 09 model. It did have a different intake and filter set-up. Don't know if it will help or not. I am starting to like the RZR. My Rhino is a tad too big and the noise is excessive. | |

| LCR , i dont know what dealer you looked at. but i looked at a new S model and the old red one and the filter was the same. even the tech said he was blabergasted , thay had not fixed this. he said he has done 9 top ends on RZR's just this year. and dont see why the problem is not fixed. Here is the cool part. he said PoPo makes a replacement filter as an upgrade. but you haft to buy it..... ..LOL course if i had one. i would get the filter Bobby-D has..... Chris.... :D | |

| All RZRs built 9-2-08 and after will have the new parts and once Polaris gets enough parts on hand they will go back and add the updated fix to the older ones.Polaris announced they are extended the warranty for dust injestion in the motor for 18 more months. | |

| The 500 that is. How much fun would that be to cross the finish line. It would be living hell making it to it though. | |

Ya Bobby , but that dont do you any good yours is already fixed... It's fixed and it cost me 0.00 :foff: so no big deal and if it would happen again which I doubt with the DFR airbox It will be free. Chris seems to like to trash the RZRs  I think deep down he has RZR envy

| I do not believe the S has more power. I own a Rhino but drove a Rzr in Utah several hundred miles last week. The Rzr is electronically limited to around 55mph. It had no problem hitting that limiter often. I'm fully convinced the stock Rzr would go 63mph if the electronic limiter was removed.
The 60" width is nuts. The advantage to a Rzr is the 50" width. I'd buy a stock one and just add a few things....

| Most people remove the stock clutch spacer like mine has been removed and it's suppose to run 60 mph just doing that but I will never run that fast. The service manager at Freedom knows a lot about the RZRs and he owns one and races it and says the S motor is beefed up with a different cam and I'm not sure what else. | |
