| That is my Dad's ride. Looks real similar from the back By the time we have our club ride again in he will have new tires on it. I have talked him into either the Mud lite XTR or the GBC Grim Reaper 27". | |

By the time we have our club ride again in he will have new tires on it. I have talked him into either the Mud lite XTR or the GBC Grim Reaper 27". Thanks, guys! Obviously I like his taste... Why 27" -- IMO, the added clearance isn't worth the change in gearing. For trail riding, I'd certainly recommend the XTRs over the Grim Reapers -- or perhaps try the GBC Bighorn knock-offs whatever they're called, Dirt Tamers I think, or maybe the GBC Dirt Commanders. Then, there's the Duro knock-offs, if he's interested in staying at 25"

| Taller tires esentially change the gear ratio -- you loose low end torque but gain top end speed (even though the speedometer won't register it).
I noticed the difference moving up to 26" Bighorns (which measure about 26.5"). I don't think I'd want to go any taller, but I don't know if those you mention run "true to size" or not. Bighorns tend to measure a bit taller than their rated size.

| I finally got around to cleaning the muck off the Rhino, (I know, bad Dawber. ) and found a punctured sidewall on one of the wannabe Man Tars. Dad burn it. First weekend and get a cut. The wheels have quite a bit of rock rash, but that don't bother me. I guess I'll see about getting the tar plugged tomorrow morning. Gotta be ready for Pineville Saturday. | |
