| I added some things to the old Rhino. It is not much but I thought I would shar. First is my $17.95 grabe bar. I think the kids need something to hold on to. [img] [/img] Next is the Trail logic skid plate. It is a solids skidplate no drain holes in it. I have have to see how it does. [img] [/img] Last is my cheap sound system I made. I have $65 in it. Not counting the I pod I already had. I think it turned out pretty good. I have probly 2 hours in it. All the wires are hid good. The wire ties you see ate for the toggle switch they will be gone when I decide were to put the switch. I think I am going to put it in the dash I just need to be real sure before I drill a hole. | Looking good! I recognize those speaker pods... How do you plan to run your wires? I still have mine zip-tied to the back of the B-pillar because I'm reluctant to drill holes. | |

The speaker pods are larg size dog food bowls right kentT. I have the amp and speaker bowls / pods mounted to an windshield that I broke at the end of winter last year. I cut the plexi glass down to lay on the roll bars. The dirt perfourmace top fit over it very nice. The plexie in mounted to the holes with the top. I got the bowls and speakers at walmart The only wires I had to buy were to hook the Ipod to the amp. I got it at a local stereo shop. I think it was $4. I bought the amp from a friend for $30. I did not want to invest to much I did onot know how it would last with the water and mud. KentT the wires were already ran in the roll bars. When I bought the Rhino it has a Jstrong top on it and they must have ran the wires I used. The only wires you can see are for the toggle switch. I know what you mean about drilling holes I have the toggle switch wire tied next to the amp because I can not decide were to drill a hole to mount it. Thanks for all the compliments I think it turned out nice. My little girl and boy thought I was crazzy when we bought the dos food bowls. My son calls it a getto radio. Tim

Yeah, they work great. Here's a pic of mine: And a topic on UORC describing what I did -- thought I'd posted it here, but I couldn't find it using search: http://utilityoffroad.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=17304

| KentT do you get better sound from the speakers over your head or the ones down low by you feet? I was thinking about putting mine down there but I thought I would hear the ones over hed better.

Tim Riding, you hear mainly the ones overhead unless you really turn the volume up. Parked, drinking a beverage, you can hear the bottom ones much better, and they do help balance the sound out. I have the bottom ones wired as front speakers and the roof ones wired as the rears. The angled pods and the doors help direct the sound up toward you. If you really crank it up -- I've had the ATV guys I ride with request me to do that -- the bottom ones sound off pretty well too. It's kinda funny -- I'll catch the guys on ATVs falling in behind me on group rides, so they can listen to my stereo too... I usually ride with a 3/4 helmet on which doesn't help the listening but my head appreciates it on rocky trails, especialy as I bounce my head off the headrest... IMO, the bottom ones are clearly "optional" -- I certainly wouldn't recommend sinking a lot of money into them for no better than you can hear them. Note that I sealed my bottom pods to the "firewall" with black silicone, and used true marine-grade speakers because they'll definitely get wet, even if its only from washing the Rhino...
