Buffers, Filters, Camels, and Travel Management Empty
PostSubject: Buffers, Filters, Camels, and Travel Management   Buffers, Filters, Camels, and Travel Management EmptyThu Oct 29, 2009 12:30 pm

As more National Forest’s enter into the DEIS or FEIS phase of the Travel Management Rule, there is a disturbing trend that has appeared. Some Units appear to have developed a “decision filter” through which the designation of OHV roads and trails must pass.

Yeah, and next they will want a buffer zone next to the buffer zone, and then maybe another buffer zone and then............. till we have no place to ride. This is a bunch of crap!!!!!!!!!!! That is like saying the speed limit is 55 so now they want to write you a ticket because you are running 50 and that is close to the speed limit. There is plenty of widerness already, we don't need any more. What we need is to make D.C. a wilderness.

Yep, the current Administration in DC and their main supporters do not want anything except Hikers, Horses, and Mountain bikes in the woods. They look at anything with a motor as something that is unnecessarily releasing greenhouse gases. This will never change. The only thing that will change is getting them out of office. I hope we all make an effort to do that in 2010 and 2012. All we can do in the meantime is try to help minimize the damage.

Actually nothing mechanized is allowed in "Wilderness Areas" except wheel chairs meeting "standard hospital" specifications so no bicycles

Also, there are "special" areas that do not allow horses either since they create as much damage to trails as a dirt bike while destroying flora and fauna when improperly "parked".
