They also have cabin rentals at the State Park that are pretty nice and only 4 miles to the trail head.

I would prefer WR or Brimstone myself.....Pickett is a good 2 1/2 hours from my house......And it could get confusing for some people because of all the different places you can park at. And we would have to find a guide for it also........most of us know Brimstone or Windrock.
We will not have to worry about a guide. I think we can get that covered.

Does Pickett have any technical rough stuff or is it just mostly scenic??
It has anything that you want to ride.

Okay everyone, I have moved this topic into the TN riding thread. Now where are we riding in TN?
Also, is the dates of January 21, 22 and 23 good with everyone?

If you want to ride Royal Blue, you can get a Non-Resident 7 day pass for $67.50. The permit numbers are 093 and 072.

I think they did away with that. It was not available for us the last time we were there.
However, Royal Blue is not on the list. We are going to either Pickett, Windrock or Brimstone.

Jody T is the man you want to guide the ride if you do it at Pickett! He knows it well. The major drawback to Pickett is most likely you have to trailer to and from the trail head everyday.

did you ride the car hauler trail ? its the best trail there everything is easy and most the trails you ride on are old logging roads like Dry Hollow road. When I go there I park right at Slickford ,Ky ( map it) and thats were we park on the Ky side. I know about 3 good lookouts

Now I know you guys ride Pickett... But is it on the state park? I went to the state park web site to see if they endorse any ATV riding and this is what I found....
Where can I ride my All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) in Tennessee? Tennessee State Parks do not have any ATV/OHV trails. ATV/OHV users wanting to ride on any of the State's forests managed by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, Division of Forestry should first contact the state forest for more information regarding use. Link to Tennessee State Forests: http://tn.gov/agriculture/forestry/stateforests.html
I would like to support places that support OHVs. Can you guys bring me up to date on the trails and if we are really suppose to be able to ride there?
Just where you park at and the first few miles are on the State Park the rest of it is in Kentucky old strip mines logging roads on so on.... as far as Parks supporting riding they do to a point in Tennessee you just have to stay on the marked trails but these places including Pickett are actually a State Forest..

Thanks. So do we need any kind of permits to ride the State Forest?

That why we love Pickett... Its FREE!! No one telling you to slow down, stay off the trails, buy a permit for your passenger...etc

Okay, I am thinking about Windrock. I think it is much easier for the group to stay on site. It is a good central meeting place for some of the guys coming from the south.
I would like to do a Pickett Brimstone ride in the near future.
