I took advice from others and use Lucas fuel treatment in all of our vehicles including the Duramax. Best price is Wal-Mart usually. Only buy fuel from good source's.

I have a 2007 with the 6.7, do a full delete, 4" turbo back and an intake, all the difference in the world. Better longevity and mileage, and you will never want for power.

Congrats on the new " to you " ride. Nothing real special as far as maintenance goes. Like others have said water in fuel is a killer on diesels. Buy fuel at a place that sells a lot if it. Check the owners manual for oil change intervals. You'll find there more spread out than a gas motor. Just follow what is recommend. Always run good filters. DO NOT put anything Fram in that truck. Wix, Baldwin, Fleetguard. Napa is Wix and they have a XE series of filters. It's a finer micron filter which i prefer to run. I run my changes out to 8-10k. I've checked it with an oil analysis and all is good. Blue Beacon truck stops offer this service. The biggest problem with these trucks is the emission re-gen system. It's gonna cost you but delete it if you want. Check with a good diesel repair shop and they will explain it to you. By doing so you will increase Hp and fuel economy. Don't go crazy with a tuner for Hp. Your just wearing stuff out sooner than needed. The auto trans are a weak link in these trucks and are expensive to build. If it has a manual trans, replace with a South bend clutch when it's needed. Other than that it's all good. Check out the website TRD Registry. It's a wealth of info for all Dodge diesel trucks. Don't get wrapped up with the go fast goodies . Enjoy!!!!!

I was towing the new Toy Hauler today for an out of state inspection and it felt like my Duramax had no real power.  I saw when I got there I had the EFI Live on the go setting on light tow.  I put it on heavy tow and made the world come alive again, on the way home.  It does make a difference, but I was told by the best in the business to never go over a 100 HP tuner, or like crs says, you will wear (or tear) up your stuff.

It has all deletes and efi live. It also has the cold air intake. It has a 5in exhaust. Rollin coal or balls to the wall isn't really my thing. I just want something to haul the family and Mav back and forth.

Good looking truck. I'm sure Tyler has the best of everything on it. Id just follow his maintainence schedule and everything should be fine.

I have a 5" and Banks intake and a H&S tuner, I don't roll coal and I run at 75hp almost all the time, I can get 19mpg's city and 22 highway and get 12-14 towing 10k.

Ya'll are lucky that you got in before the urea trucks. My '06 is good to go and it won't be for sale. My late model '12  cab and chassis has the urea, so it will be  the first to go later on. Sure wish i could find a tuner to make the computer happy so i can join you in the delete world. study  Don't get me wrong, i'm not against emissions. I am against the government forcing unreliable crap down our necks and passing the cost off to the user  hump  Oh no, i just didn't get on a milk crate did i?  rant2 Ok i'm shuttin' up. Enjoy your rides. cool
