| Purolator Pure One PL14610 ~ $6. I don't like the high ass $ for the Yammy filter either. I checked out a website where they had cut one of the Yammy filters open, and I decided right there that I would never buy another one of those unless an emergency. What lead me to the PL14610 for sure, besides reading about them on SXS and ATV sites, was a site where a guy had tested the OEM Filter, the Pure One, and a Mobil 1 (I think it was) for flow and filtration. He stated thet the Yammy filter flowed less and filtered less than the other two, the Pure One filtered more than the other two, flowed more than the Yammy, but didn't flow as much as the Mobil 1, but it was a close second to it. So, I think I'll take one that filters best and flows more than the recommended OEM. Note: The PL14610 is about an inch longer than the stock filter, so you can add in just a tad more juice. |

| Bosch # is 3323
STP 6607
My fav is: Wix 51356
I had an experience with wix today. I ordered 3 filters from a local parts house where I have ordered them before and changed my oil. When I started the Rhino she puked oil from behind the seal on the filter. Upon inspection the Wix was not concave in the thread area but was domed. If you use the Wix make sure the threaded area is concave.....or you will be making another trip to the parts house. all three were the same way and when I took them back they gave me the right ones but had the same part number. Just to let you know. all of the above are about an inch longer than the stock filter, of which I am told will not hurt but could help with the lil bit of extra oil. | |

| Just a FYI. The pressure-relief valve in the filter is different from 06 back. It is 18.13psi 06 back and 14.5psi for 07 (660's) even though the filter will fit, It ain't right. So if your buying a off-brand and it says 04 to 07 660, your doing harm to your motor, maybe. You want the lower psi relief. Yamaha lowered it's spec on the pressure relief to boost top-end oiling after 06 because of failure after failure due to lean-oiling on the wrist-pin. Go ahead and buy the off-brands, but you better check it out. Myself ,Yamaha filters only.......

| This is what the Yank Has. You can find them on ebay for about $13 shipped to your house. http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=KN-204Remember the bypass (relief) valve should not come into play unless you have a dirty filter. I myself do not go over 600 miles without changing it. The more important thing to me is to make sure it has a check valve to prevent drain back. Those dry starts are not good on the motor. | |

| Myself, I'm not worried about the relief valve, the Purolator is within spec. for my '06. Besides, we have less than 300 miles on the thing, and It's had 3 oil/filter changes since the factory fill. |

| New to the site and ran across the oil filter post. In '01 I bought my Raptor. Didn't like paying the $18 for the Yamana filter and began a search for a replacement. Comparing the thread pitch and size, I found that the AC Delco for a '96 Masda V6 minivan would interchange. Only difference was it was about an inch longer. The AC became hard to find so changed over to a couple of others. The Bosch 3323 has been an excellent one as well as the STP 6607. Last year in Az. I needed to change the oil on my '07 Rhino Sport and could only fine the Parts Master 61064. I have run my Raptor hard now since '01 with no oil problems at all. I still have it and am curently running the Bosch. Easy to find. Oh, by the way, the Raptor and Rhino use the same filter and am running the Bosch on it also. I run Shell Synthetic Oil in the Raptor and am about to change the Rhino over the next change. It has 800 miles on it. Thanks for letting me join your forum. Duramax | |
