| I have been looking for the air filter for the 170.Most of the ones out there all go on top.I and my daughter dont really like it sitting on top. It looks like a coffe can with a sock on it my daughter says.i know it works best up there on top.Can i with out any problems run it under neath like this photo was made ? this one is a open air filter but instead of running it on top behind the seat you run it under neath.i was told by alba also that the shorter the pipe on the tube coming from the carb the more better it will run. So what i am asking is can i get away with running the open air filter under neath like this one here and not have any problems with it getting to dirty ? | |

| Those type filters are oiled, if its out in the open and close to the ground I would think it would not take long for the dirt, dust or sand to be attracted by the oil and cover the filter, water would be another concern i would think if you ride where you hit any big mud holes or creeks. There are a bunch of 170 guys on rzr.net might see what some of them are running. | |

| It might not be so noticeable with a black outerware pre filter in place of the red one, they come in all colors. | |

| Yea heres the one that vent racing sells. it is the best of all the ones that are out there for sale. it also comes with the stainless plate as you can see in the photo.just seems like it would be easy to hit with something. | |

| Well Woody.....if I had that machine, that would be the unit that I'd be using!!!!!!! Up and away from the dirt, dust, and water and I wouldn't be worried about hittin it on something!! HOWEVER......that's just and no, I do not own one. So please take my comments with however many grains of salt you wish!! | |
