It don't..................... Interesting... My 450 does, and according to Hunterworks video that 700 did... I'll bet that could make for a real cold-natured beast in the wintertime, especially on a carb instead of FI engine...

| #13- Housing, No thermostat. The 660 has a carb-heater to aid in cold starts, I think the 450 does too. Shawn most people install the in-line fitting on hose #19. Thats the outlet side.

| And from what i see Kent, your 450 does not have one either. It would be at item #10 if it did. This is an 08 fisch, is yours a 09?? I wasn't sure. UPDATE-Checked 09 ,no t-stat either. | |

| Shawn, I don't think 3/8 will be big enough, hose #19 is at least 3/4 I.D, or really close anyway. | |

Well, I'm not saying it's not ,but I've never seen it done that way. If the waters flowing from the water-pump to the housing that's water that has not been through the motor yet thus to me, a low/false reading, if it's flowing from the housing to the water-pump the waters been through the motor so it would be ok. I don't know which way it flows.

When I "burped" mine -- I had to wait at least a couple minutes for the cold engine to start pumping water out the bleed screw -- which made me think that something is functioning like a thermostat somewhere. It didn't "dribble" coolant out like shown in Todd's video -- it went from nothing at all to a full stream of coolant... no spurts, nor stops and starts in the flow, like you would get when a thermostat opens.

| My 660 did that too. I guess it just takes a little time to get over the air-lock. Plus those lines are long and it back-flows when the engine is off?? Just a guess. | |

Mine's an '08... Thanks for the explanation -- I thought mine had a thermostat because of the way it acted -- no water moving at all, then suddenly hot water coming out. Oh well, not the first time I've been wrong, and likely not the last... Just ask my wife...

| Kent, #40 is what helps cold starting. 30w carb heater. It heats both the fuel in the bowl and the carb. I've found in the winter, if you turn on the key and not start immediately, it sorta boosts cold-starting. Kind of like heating the glow-plugs in a diesel. | |

| well thought I was all good to go until I installed the gauge (volt left---> temp right) and found out the sending line is too damn short(this is when the choice words starting flowing in my head) so my problem is now I need to know how to extend the sending line????? or buy new hose and start over or splice the cut(looking like ) and recut into the hose | |

| Oh man I didnt know you were using a mechinical. I used an electric. I have no idea if you can extend the line............sorry. Why don't you just mount the guage in the top of the doghouse?? Or somewhere closer. You'd still be able to see it with a quick glance. Dunno | |
