Need some owner opinions on the RZR. Empty
PostSubject: Need some owner opinions on the RZR.   Need some owner opinions on the RZR. EmptyFri Oct 24, 2008 6:42 pm

I am very interested in a RZR and have been looking. I have a 700 Rhino now, but like the size of the RZR and it fits where I ride the most. Those that have a RZR and are familiar with the Rhino, give me an unbias opinion on the RZR. I have seen some negative comments on some Polaris dealers and some comments on mechanical problems. My Rhino has been trouble free so far, I would like to think the RZR would be as good. Thanks. Sid.

So far I love mine, I went to windrock and royal blue with mine for the first time and it did excellent, it really scoots around like an atv does, I have some aftermarket shocks so i have about an 1-1 1/2 more ground clearance than stock so that hasn't been a problem for me. I also have had a rhino 450 it was great and very reliable but it only did about 38mph just a little to slow for my liking.

As far as mechanical issues, some of the first rzr's had some intake issues but if you are getting a new 09 most of them should have the larger airfilters with the throttle body boot and better throttle body, so hopefully that has been taken care of, I have a BTI airfilter canister that definitely does work!! so I have had no dust intake issues so far. I did however come back from my first out of state trip with a front swaybar bushing missing which made me realize why I was getting such crazy steering feedback when hitting nasty bumps. but it is all being covered under warranty, plus the part was only 4bucks.

I personally have never driven a rhino 700 but I really like them and they seem to really do well but I have to tell you the rzr has really really impressed me so far with it's capabilities. I have always hated polaris and I honestly don't know if I can trust the rzr yet (only 30 hours so far) but It looks awesome, been very impressive performance wise and is an absolute blast so far!!

My RZR has almost 3000 miles and if it would have had the BTI airbox on it from the start it would have been trouble free but the top end was rebuilt at 1,985 miles with no cost to me so if you get a 09 with the updates you should be good to go.I don't use mine for rock crawling because I don't enjoy that kind of stuff or consider that riding IMO.I just ride wooded trails and creeks etc: and I'm not easy on it either which means I ride fast & furious at times over some rough trails.I know several people that have owned RHINO'S and now have RZR's and like the RZR much better because of the fun factor. If you just trail ride and don't need the bigger bed and utility use of the Rhino I think the RZR is more fun because of the power, size and handling.Everyone want's to bash Polaris but I have owned 6 Polaris machines and I have ridden appx 20,000 miles in the last 6.5 years and I have never had to walk or be towed back to the truck.I have owned every brand but Artic Cat & Can Am so I'm not loyal to any brand and I have two Yamaha's a Kodiak 450 & a Grizz 350 for my son's
I know when the Grizzly 660 and the Rhino's came out they were not perfect machines either.

Guys, give me an opinion on the noise level comparisions. I am interested in the cabin/seat area noise. My Rhino is louder than I think it should be and I have undercoated the fender wells and have lined the bed and added a Benz silencer on the exhaust. The outside noise is no bad, but in the cabin is loud. How does the RZR do in the noise area. Thanks.

The 09's are suppose to have less exhaust noise due to a change Polaris made for all 09's

If your talking about cab noise in general, Iam actually always saying to my wife isn't it nice to have a conversation without having to yell or scream over the engine noise, which we both agree that the rzr is much much quiter for being able to talk with your passenger, we actually talked quite a bit on our TN trip and its nice to be able to have your voice at the end of the day. I had an 07 rhino so the intake was right in the middle and you had to yell, so I don't know if the 08-09 rhinos are quiter?? but we actually use our regular voices to conversate back and forth it is nice.
