| Well Im gonna say you either slipped timing and now the valve is hitting the piston (Im not certant that the valves would hit the piston, or you have a gear problem with the counter balancer. Sorry to hear that, but Im sure theres enough help on here to get you fixed. The 660's are bad about the decompression weight pins dropping out and tearing up the timing chain. You may have even just derailed the chain and it is binding up on the crank gear. | |

| If the cam chain is derailed...then we might as well rebuild the motor while we have to take the cyl off to get the chain back on track?? | |

| Yes, you might as well, alot as to come off to fix it, cam, side cover, stator, etc. Put a new water/oil pump chain in there too while your at it. | |

| If the chain de-railed , it's done. It's a non-interference motor. The valves will not come into contact with the piston unless it jumps time, but I've never heard of one jumping time. The de-comp pins can slip, but when they do, no compression, motor will still spin. I'd guess, ........Skirt broke-off the piston and got ate, or valve keeper came loose (common)dropped a valve, galled piston-pin or bottom rod bearing went. If any of the above occured it's done man. Just hope it didn't ruin the cases............If the drive-support went, cases are done, look for a new motor...........That sucks........ | |

| Glad to hear the Muddy, Now you need to find your broken wire. Pull all the relays up out of the fuse box and make sure they dont have alot of corrosion in the bottoms where the wires go in. I have this on a 700 but not on a 660. Other than that you gotta start with basics really, battery, cables, all connectors, etc. | |

I have read several times that if your stator is bad, the Rhino will not crank. If you disconnect the rectifier and then it cranks, you know you have a bad stator. Not at all an expert on this, just passing info along.

the stator is a pickup and coil generators the pickup would keep it from starting and the battery will go dead with the coils, a service manual will tell the ohms that you should read at the connectors here is the pickup... http://www.jokersracing.com/content-product_info/product_id-4922/yamaha_rhino_660_pick_up_pulser_coil_ricky_stator.html you may be able to find this cheaper, but this was the first link...

| got a ricky stator um stator on the way here right now! Unfortunately I missed the pickup to get it here in the morning but should be here first thing friday morning. Im gonna have it tore down ready to install so hopefully i hook it up fire it up drive it on the trailer and head east. The more I think about it this is it. I recently put in an electronic heater that when it died it was only the second time i had it on out driving it. The ricky should have a higher output correct? Either way I think i might take it off just to be sure. | |
